RADi​O F​​iLM

​Founded in 2013, Radio Film is a limited UK company, directed by Andy Jones and Ellie Smith. 

 

Andy is a producer and director of documentary film and radio who has worked on everything from major BBC series to one-off independent features, short films and interactive content from across half the world.

 

Radio Film projects aim to use media to create social change and provoke space for discussion. We have advised on numerous film impact campaigns and have also worked as mentors and advisers to international film development programmes including Docs By The Sea, HotDocs Blue Ice Fund and Climate Labs alongside Exposure Labs and DocSociety.

In summer 2017, Ellie Smith joined the Radio Film team as Director of Research and Impact.

​

Since 2002, Ellie has worked within the fields of International Human Rights, International Criminal Law and Humanitarian Law. Her work in legal practice, civil society engagement and academic research has focussed on working with trauma, including within the post-conflict and justice-seeking contexts, as well as in the field of gender violence, investigation and prosecution. 

​

As well as leading on the research and implementation of impact campaigns connected to our production slate, Ellie also provides advice and training to journalists and documentary filmmakers on working with vulnerable and traumatised individuals, and self-care in the investigative process. Outside of Radio Film, Ellie is a principal associate of GSDM, working in collaboration with legal practitioners, governmental and intergovernmental offices, medical staff, academics, think tanks and international tribunals.
